Population
In the entire Amazon live about 600.000 natives. Approximately one thirth of them lives in the Brazillian part of the forest. They have kept their culture - so far is was possible - and live in the traditional ways. Which means that they supply themselves with food by fishing, hunting and collecting fruit. The industrial branche is a threath to their way of living in many ways. The most important is the destruction of their environment.

During the second half of the 19th century there came more and more relatives of the Europeans to the Amazon. Nowadays, just in the brazillan part of the Amazone, are about eiht million non-natives.

In the Amazon are many types of race, but we can't speak of a real (united) culture. They live seperated from eachother and the natives live together with their own group. One of the main reasons for the seperated way of living is the infrastructure. Because there aren't any roads it stays very had to get in touch with another culture.
